What Is OEKO-TEX and Why Is It Important?

Something you may have noticed on our labels or labels of other clothing and textiles is the “OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100” label. But what does that means exactly?

What Is OEKO-TEX?
OEKO-TEX is a brand that checks everything on the item of textile you may buy. Sometimes fabrics can be made or treated with harmful substances that can be harmful to human health. If the textile you’re purchasing has the label that is “OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100”, that means that these harmful substances haven’t been used in the making of that piece.

Why Is It Important?
Getting things like bedding and clothing that have been certified is important because of the substances that may have been used otherwise. Have you ever wondered why your brand new shirt caused you to break out in an awful rash? The fabric could have been treated with a harmful chemical, but there’s not a way of knowing unless you see the certified tag.

OEKO-TEX is important because it helps keep you healthy and aware of what you’re buying. So next time you’re out shopping for a new pillowcase or some bedding, double-check to make sure that what you’re purchasing has been certified and you can sleep peacefully, knowing that nothing harmful has been used.
